Here’s a question people often ask:
- Why do I need a teacher, why can’t I learn to play from books or the internet?
Here’s what a good teacher will do for you:
- Teach you what you need to know at that stage of your development.
- Teach you the correct way to play each new subject.
- Motivate and inspire you.A teacher can give you feedback and support, encouraging you when you don’t feel you are getting where you want to be and making you feel good about yourself and your progress.
- Show you how to get the most from your practice.
- Give you support and guidance

- I won’t just ask you what bands you like. I’ll find out what you really want to do with the guitar. Ask yourself, if I could do anything with music/the guitar with no limitations, what would that be?
- I’ll create a personalised plan for you of how I’m going to help you achieve your goals. We’ll always progress with that in mind.
- I’ll evaluate your abilities from the first lesson, looking at your strengths and weaknesses and I’ll tailor your lessons to fit.
- I’ll keep a record of your progress, so that I know exactly what you’ve already learned and where we need to go next to get where you want to be.
- I’ll provide access to an online library of resources such as sound-files (backing tracks, examples, exercises) music, guitar tab and also email access to me (usually within 24 hours)
